Shilo longs to be in the world so she disobeys her father and sneaks out into the filthy, mean streets, running with blood and littered with corpses – all that's left of civilization. She is a strange, ethereal creature who collects giant insects. Shilo wants to find out about her family's past and is seeking a cure for her disease. He sings a terrific anthem in the opera with the refrain "I am only living out a lie." The heroine of the piece – sort of – is 17-year-old Shilo Wallace (Alexa Vega), a girl suffering from a blood disease and kept like the boy in a bubble by her father Dr. No dice, sings Rotti: "My children shall inherit nothing!" he crows. They're all vying to take over the company from the old man. He has fathered "addicted to the knife" Amber Sweet (Paris Hilton), who will literally lose face Luigi (Bill Moseley) "who don't take s- from no one" and party-boy Pavi (Nivek Ogre) with his flesh-mask stapled over a scarred countenance. Paul Sorvino plays the evil Rotti Largo, head of GeneCo. Those who can afford it – and even those who can't – change their faces more frequently than their outfits. Nine years from conception, Repo! The Genetic Opera is a movie bound for box office success and many replays on Friday fright-night screens. The opera was so successful in two productions in Hollywood in 20, that the creators set their sights on making it into a film. It's not hard to imagine that the sorry state of the American healthcare system could have provided Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich with the premise for their 10-minute club musical, The Necro-Merchant's Debt, that grew to fill the main stage as Repo! The Genetic Opera. Written by Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. Starring Paul Sorvino, Alexa Vega and Anthony Head.
